If you’re going away for the summer, DO NOT turn off your AC unit. I have seen some pretty horrific things in houses that had the utilities turned off during the summer and no one was there.
There’s one particular house that sticks out in my mind. When I was a realtor, I listed this house. It was tied up in probate, and the executor made the decision to just turn everything off.
And you can imagine how hot it got in that house, and all the wallpaper had peeled off about halfway down the walls. There was just all kinds of nightmares in this place, and they could have been avoided if somebody taken a look at the place and left the AC on instead of turning it off.
My recommendation is you leave the AC set at about 90 degrees.
