Is mold a potential problem in Arizona, in your house or you’re gone in the summer? What if you turn off the water? Then it surely is not a problem, is it? We have monsoon storms in Arizona, and if you get a roof leak during a monsoon storm, you would not believe the amount of water that could come in through a small leak.
Where does that water go? Well, it soaks into the insulation and eventually it works down to the drywall and then it sits. And if it stays wet for any length of time, you are most likely going to have mold starting to appear on your ceiling. The other possibility that you should be aware of, if the plumbing turned off.
there’s still concerns about the drip system outside, particularly if it’s close to the house. It can if there’s a big leak, I’ve seen this on one of my neighbor’s houses, the water seeped in from the outside and pretty soon you have black mold on the siding. It is a potential problem that needs to be constantly checked. One of the things you need to do to protect your house during the summer is leave the AC on.
I know a lot of people turn it off. It’s not a good idea. The AC unit should be set at about 90 and to prevent damage to the inside of the house. One of the things that can happen when that is going on is the AC unit is working a little harder in July and August. Humidity is much higher.
And when the AC unit is running, the coil attracts moisture and that moisture falls into a drip and that has a drain in it with a line that runs to the outside of your house. Occasionally that drain line gets plugged up. When it does, the drain pan fills up and you’ve got a water problem.
